About us

Tierra de Amani is an NGO created in 2005 that supports the most disadvantaged children and youth in Tanzania. Our goal is a simple one, although not always easy to achieve: to improve their lives through education.

With headquarters in Spain and Tanzania, we work in the area of Moshi, a small capital located in a rural area at the foothills of Kilimanjaro.

Tierra de Amani is a non-denominational NGO, respectful of all beliefs and faiths. Amani means PEACE in Swahili, which translates into dignity and hope for the future of our children and adolescents.

All the work carried out from Spain, both by the Board of Directors and by volunteers, is entirely voluntary and unpaid. Our team of Tanzanian social workers is employed directly by the NGO.

Our goal

CHILDHOOD, ADOLESCENCE AND EDUCATION should always go together and in capital letters. That is how we see it, and keeping this in mind is what drives us to work to improve the living conditions of the children and youth who join our project and, by extension, those of their families.

The first thing we do is focus on their schooling and secure access — for them and their families — to proper nutrition and healthcare when they need it.

We can't solve every problem, but together, and with your essential support, no matter how small, we can make a real, lasting difference in the lives of others.

Education

No education, no future

This is our premise and our main reason for being: to give Tanzania's children access to education: Primary, Secondary, Vocational Training, and University.

We give an opportunity to boys and girls who have never had one. Some hold on to it tightly and make it all the way to university. Many never even dreamed of enrolling in, let alone finishing, primary school.

Earning a university degree changes their lives, but every achievement, however far they get, has been worth it without question. This is also the triumph of the people who support and stand by them through their sponsorship.
