Every child's journey
Giving every child and teenager a chance means standing by them for years, from the moment they join the project until they can live independently.
01
Home and surroundings
Our work begins when a school or hospital alerts us to a child in a particularly vulnerable situation, often after losing one or both parents. We go to meet them and see first-hand how and with whom they live, and what their most urgent needs are.
02
Schooling
The first step is always to secure their schooling, often at a boarding school, because conditions at home make it impossible for them to keep up. From then on, we support them as they grow, also looking after their health, nutrition and wellbeing.
03
University or professional training
If their grades allow it, we help them get into university or advanced vocational programmes, and stay by their side throughout. They are almost always the first in their family to get this far.
04
Independence
Our ultimate goal is their autonomy: a job, a home of their own and stability. Some of these young people are now part of our team in Tanzania. Every one who makes it makes all the effort worthwhile.
